Quick answer

How does the miraDry procedure work?

During miraDry, a handpiece applies gentle suction to lift the underarm skin and delivers controlled microwave energy into the lower dermis, where sweat and odour glands sit. A cooling system protects the skin surface while the heat eliminates the glands, which do not regenerate. The procedure takes about 60–90 minutes under local anaesthetic.

Only around 2% of the body’s sweat glands are in the underarms, so treating them does not affect your ability to cool down. Most patients return to work or sightseeing the same day.

FAQ

miraDry procedure questions we hear most

Can’t find your answer? Message our English-speaking team on WhatsApp.

How long does the miraDry procedure take?

About 60–90 minutes for both underarms, including mapping and numbing. Allow a little extra time for consultation on your first visit.

Is miraDry painful?

Local anaesthetic is used, so most people feel pressure, suction and warmth rather than pain. Tenderness afterwards usually settles in a few days.

How many miraDry sessions do I need?

Most people see a significant reduction after one session. A second session after a few months can further enhance results for some patients.

When can I exercise after miraDry?

Light activity is fine straight away. Avoid strenuous arm exercise for about a week while swelling settles.

Does miraDry affect body temperature control?

No. Only around 2% of the body’s sweat glands are in the underarms, and the rest continue to cool you normally.
