How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal uses light absorbed by the pigment in the hair to heat and disable the follicle while the surrounding skin is cooled. Because only follicles in the active growth phase respond, a series of about 6–8 sessions is needed for long-term reduction of hair growth. Hair becomes finer and sparser after 2–3 sessions.
Wavelengths such as alexandrite, diode or Nd:YAG are chosen according to skin tone and hair colour. It works best on dark hair; very light, grey or red hair responds poorly.

Is laser hair removal permanent?
It gives long-term hair reduction rather than guaranteed permanent removal. Most people keep much less hair after a full series, with one or two maintenance sessions a year for some areas.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
It feels like quick snaps of a rubber band with warmth. Built-in cooling helps, and numbing cream can be used for sensitive areas such as the bikini line.
How many sessions do I need?
Most areas need about 6–8 sessions 4–8 weeks apart, because only actively growing hairs respond at each session. Facial hair may need more.
Can I shave before treatment?
Yes — shave the area a day before, but do not wax, pluck or thread for several weeks, as the laser needs the hair root in place.
Is it suitable for underarm sweating too?
Laser targets hair only. For sweat and odour, consider miraDry, which also reduces underarm hair, or underarm whitening for darkened skin.
