Birthmark removal in Gangnam, Seoul
Pigmented and some vascular birthmarks lightened gradually with lasers matched to the mark’s colour and depth — a staged plan with realistic expectations from the first visit.
Can birthmarks be removed with a laser?
Many birthmarks can be significantly lightened with lasers. Pigmented marks such as nevus of Ota, café-au-lait spots and Becker’s naevus are treated with pico or Q-switched lasers that break up melanin, while vascular marks need lasers or light that target blood vessels. Most need several sessions spaced weeks apart. Some marks fade almost completely; others lighten but do not fully disappear.
Response depends on the type, depth and colour of the mark and your skin type. Café-au-lait spots in particular can recur, so your doctor will discuss realistic goals before starting.
